Chef Ronnell Simmons is a Food Service Professional with excellent decision-making, supervision and managerial skills. A strong leader, Ronnell has the ability to instruct, delegate, and solve problems, as well as manage personnel and prioritize projects. As a team player, Ronnell uses HACCP principals and ServSafe Food Handler’s Guide to teach and guide his team. Ronnell has the ability to plan and cater events for hundreds of individuals.
As the Director of Food Service for Whitsons Culinary, Ronnell is responsible for the direction and administration of food operations for over 500 students in the school district. His responsibilities include inventory, purchasing, creating and managing budgets, menu development and pricing, as well as staff scheduling. He is also responsible for vendor management, billing and contracts, regulatory compliance, as well as food and labor cost control.
Ronnell has a degree in Culinary Arts from the Art Institute of New York City. He is also a certified ServSafe Instructor and Registered Examination Proctor. Ronnell obtained his certification in Food Safety Management from The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals. He also obtained a ServSafe Food Protection Manager’s certification from the National Restaurant Association. Ronnell is an active member of the National Restaurant Association and ensures he is current with the latest culinary laws, techniques and methodologies.
Ronnell has been a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church for over 40 years. He currently serves as a faithful choir member and is the Assistant Director of MetroWorks. Ronnell is extremely family-oriented and enjoys cooking awesome meals for family and friends. He is married to the beautiful Bernika Simmons and they have two talented children, Taylor and Zachery.
